I love cool summer treats of all kinds, but if I had to choose only one to beat the heat, it’d be ice cream. While I love a cold, creamy scoop year-round, something about a melty bowl of ice cream on a hot summer day hits different.
When I heard that Kroger released a lineup of brand-new summer ice cream flavors, I knew I had to get my hands on the pints immediately. Each pint has an irresistible name: Fireside Nights, Sandy Shores, Poolside Tan Lines, and Italian Style Summer Fizz. I love an ice cream taste test, so I decided to scoop up samples for family and friends to see what everyone liked best.
No surprise, we decided that all four flavors are welcome additions to the grocery store’s frozen aisle. Read on for my ice cream panel's full review!
Kroger's Exclusive Summer Ice Cream Flavors
- Availability: Look for all four flavors at Kroger and other grocery stores in the Kroger family, like Ralphs, Fred Meyer, and King Soopers this summer.
- Why I Love It: Each pint packs unexpected flavors and mix-ins for only $2.29, about half the price of premium pints from Ben & Jerry's or Häagen-Dazs.

Review: Kroger's All-New Summer Ice Cream Lineup
It's not hard to convince friends—especially friends with kiddos—to come over for fun scoops of ice cream. Put an ice cream taste test on your family's summer bucket list!
Fireside Nights
This toasted marshmallow ice cream is mixed with chunks of s’mores. It features sparkly orange swirls that quite literally glitter in the light (the little ones who tried this loved that feature), and the chocolatey pieces sprinkled throughout add a nice bite of texture.
Plus, as someone who can easily toss back marshmallows—toasted or not—I loved that this flavor dominates this pint.
Sandy Shores
The base of this flavor is a pale aquamarine ice cream that tastes like coconut without any synthetic notes. There's a salty pretzel crunch, too. Somehow, the flavor almost reminds me of a snickerdoodle cookie. It’s light and creamy, with little crunches of salt that set it apart.
Poolside Tan Lines
Thanks to a tried-and-true trifecta of vanilla bean, chocolate, and coffee ice cream, this pint truly looks like its namesake. With different shades rippling through the pint, it’s not hard to be reminded of time in the sun. In terms of flavor, this ice cream tastes like you put all three classics in a bowl and mixed them, which I often do anyway.
Italian Style Summer Fizz
You wouldn't know it from the title, but this flavor is a blood orange sherbet. Tongue-tingling from popping candy clusters, every spoonful is citrusy and extra vibrant. The sunset hue reminds me of a fruity popsicle you might pick up at the ice cream truck.
This pint is definitely a sherbet and not a sorbet. It’s not icy at all; instead, it has an almost whipped-like texture.
You can find all four flavors from this collection at Kroger stores right now. Each flavor will only be available while supplies last, so stock up while you still can.
