My favorite types of cookies are the big, size-of-your-head ones, warm from the bakery. I’m not the only one, considering the rise of cookie franchises like Crumbl, Chip City, and Insomnia Cookies. So my ears perked up when I heard that Pillsbury was releasing Big Cookies, a new type of cookie dough to make bakery-style cookies right at home.
Big Cookies are three times bigger than Pillsbury’s classic cookies. I love that they come in fun, unexpected flavors, just like a trendy cookie chain. The three cookie flavors are S’mores, filled with chocolate chunks and marshmallow pieces; Chocolate Chunk Salted Caramel, filled with chocolate chunks and gooey caramel; and Double Chocolate Cherry, a chocolate cookie filled with chunks of cherry-flavored pieces.
These refrigerated packages come with a six-pack of cookie dough, which you then bake at home. However, the dough is also safe to eat raw. Though I’ve YOLOd eating raw dough in the past, it’s nice to get an official go-ahead that it’s actually okay to do with this brand.

My Review of Pillsbury’s New Big Cookies
Pillsbury sent me their Big Cookies to try early. I eagerly popped them into the oven as soon as I received them, using a parchment-lined baking pan for easy cleanup.
The cookies are thinner than the thick, monster cookies some of the viral chains have, reminding me most of Insomnia cookies. All three flavors of these soft, buttery, gooey cookies tasted like something I’d buy from a bakery or make from scratch, rather than store-bought.
In true bakery-style fashion, I tried these cookies warm from the oven, starting with the Chocolate Chunk Salted Caramel. I couldn't taste the caramel, so I felt like I was just eating a chocolate chip cookie, which was still good, but not what I was expecting.
However, I was wowed by the S’mores cookie. I loved the crunch of the dehydrated marshmallows, a similar texture to Lucky Charms. Just as I thought, “Okay, that’s going to be my favorite of the three,” I tried the Double Chocolate Cherry, which battled for first place.
I never would’ve chosen a chocolate cherry cookie at a bakery, so I was even more surprised by how much I liked the flavor. The soft, super chocolatey cookie tasted like a brownie, with the rich chocolate balanced by the twist of vibrant cherry.
When and Where to Buy Pillsbury Big Cookies
Pillsbury Big Cookies debut at Walmart this month and will expand to stores nationwide later this summer. The six-packs of dough retail at $6.99, meaning each cookie costs slightly over $1, significantly less than what you’d pay at a cookie shop. I’d recommend these cookies to anyone who wants to have bakery-style cookies right at home!
