I felt a little ridiculous the first time I bought a 30-pack of eggs from Costco. We go through a lot of eggs, so it seemed like the thoughtful, plan-ahead, meal-prepping version of me thing to do.

Once I got home, I didn't know what to do with all of them. The massive carton barely fit in my fridge, and every time I needed eggs, I had to wrestle it out. That's when I decided to pick up Dollar Tree's Essentials Egg Storage Container, and I've been using it for about three years now.

I keep a dozen eggs in this container in my main upstairs fridge, and store the larger carton in my overflow basement fridge. I paid $1.25 a few years ago and wouldn't hesitate to buy it again at today's $1.50.

It's been the perfect solution for dealing with my ambitious bulk egg purchases—and more.

Why I Love Dollar Tree's Essentials Egg Storage Container

This container fits perfectly into my EMS, or Egg Management System, as I like to call it jokingly. I no longer have to haul and cram a massive carton into my already-packed refrigerator. Each egg sits securely in its own molded well—no rolling around—and the lid helps keep them fresh.

It's also perfect for the current summer months when I get fresh eggs from a local farmer. I can pop over with my plastic carton and pick out the eggs that I want. Plus, the irregular shapes and slightly different sizes fit much better in these individual wells than they ever did in repurposed cardboard cartons.

If you only go through a dozen eggs at a time, you might not need this—but if you're after a tidier fridge, keep reading.

Instead of a beat-up cardboard carton that might leak if an egg cracks, I have a neat, stackable container that makes my refrigerator feel more organized. The lid doesn't snap on; it just sits on top. I can stack other items on top without crushing them, and when it gets dirty, I simply pop it into the top rack of my dishwasher.

It's held up perfectly through daily use for over three years now, and for such a small investment, it's replaced the need to buy multiple smaller cartons of eggs throughout the week, which in turn saves me time and money. It doesn't solve all of my kitchen problems, but it continues to solve this one, one giant egg carton at a time.
