It’s so rich and creamy.

After a long chaotic week, the best moments are the quiet ones that happen after the kids have gone to bed. When our daughter was born and we couldn't easily go out anymore, my husband and I started having date nights at home once a week. We'll watch a movie, chat about our week, sometimes make a special dinner, or try a new cocktail, and enjoy some quality time together.

When I learned that Aldi was bringing back its Specially Selected Mini Dessert Cups, I put them on my list for these nights! The elegant desserts come in a two-pack in either espresso flavored or hazelnut flavored. For just $2.99, they're an elevated, rich dessert, and exactly what our date nights need—I'm planning to keep a few sets in the fridge.

Aldi Specially Selected Mini Dessert Cups

  • Price: $2.99 for two cups
  • Why I Love It: These tiny creamy dessert cups come in two flavors: espresso and hazelnut. They’re rich and decadent as is, but you could serve them with whipped cream and berries.

Why I'm Excited To Try Aldi's Specially Selected Mini Dessert Cups

The pretty, multi-layered desserts come in glass cups, making them look like something I'd order at a nice restaurant. The espresso version promises a creamy coffee and dark chocolate mousse, while the hazelnut features hazelnut cream with chocolate chips and pralines—the latter is what I'll be reaching for first.

The portion size is perfect. I love that they come as a two-pack because it means my husband and I can each have our own without leftovers. I think they'll be great served as-is, chilled. I could also see myself adding a tiny dollop of whipped cream or dusting the espresso ones with a bit of cocoa powder. I plan to serve them tiny dessert spoons that remind me to slow down and savor every bite.

Outside of date night, they'd be perfect to keep on hand for last-minute dinner guests or, if you're one to plan ahead, as the easiest contribution to a potluck. You can easily upgrade them by garnishing them with fresh, seasonal berries.

The reusable cups are also a bonus. Once you've enjoyed the desserts, you can wash the cups out and use them for things like overnight oats and yogurt parfaits, or, in my house, little collection zones for kids' small treasures.

If you're looking for a simple, sweet way to make a regular night feel a little more special, keep an eye out for these. These nights in at home have become my favorite kind of date night, and the mini dessert cups will only make them sweeter.
