In my dream home—the one I mentally design while waiting in line at the grocery store—there is a custom, built-in nugget ice maker for all of my cold drinks. It's a non-negotiable feature in my fantasy kitchen because, if you know me, you know that my ice obsession is real.
In the meantime, I have a much more affordable, realistic, and frankly brilliant alternative to the multi-thousand-dollar appliance I covet: Dollar Tree’s Surefresh honeycomb ice cube trays. For just $1.25, they're the less expensive way to make my chilled drink dreams come true, and I'm so obsessed that I've bought four.

Why I Love Dollar Tree's SureFresh Honeycomb Ice Cube Trays
Yes, I still love my countertop ice machine. However, I also have several other specialty ice cube trays, so I can make additional ice in the shapes and flavors I want. The hexagon shape, in particular, is a fun and aesthetically pleasing way to elevate iced coffee, sparkling water, lemonade, cocktails, or any other beverage that you want to look or feel a little more special.
Plus, at $1.25 each, they're undeniably affordable compared to a nugget machine.
I hate wrestling with those rigid plastic trays, running them under warm water and twisting them until I felt like my fingers getting frost-bitten. But with these, I let them sit on the counter for a few minutes so the edges slightly melt. Then, I simply flex the silicone tray to pop the cubes out.
I love making big batches of this ice and storing it in a container so that I can have nugget ice on demand. I started a never-ending nugget system where I fill four trays at once. Once they're frozen, I dump the cubes into a freezer-safe container with a lid, then I refill the empty trays immediately and repeat the process. This way, I always have my special ice ready to go without waiting for another batch to freeze. I know I'm quirky, but all I can say is that life is genuinely better with good ice!
Beyond just freezing water, I can envision using these trays to freeze juice, lemonade, or berry and herb cubes, making my drinks both beautiful and flavorful as they melt. I also like freezing leftover coffee so that my iced coffee doesn't get watered down, and this cube shape would be ideal for that purpose.
These cute little ice cubes have genuinely leveled up my day-to-day drink enjoyment. And even though I have to make the ice myself, using it makes me feel like I'm living in my dream home—if only for a moment.
