Nothing is as convenient as instant coffee when you’re in a time crunch. This week, though, you may want to take a minute to brew a pot instead.
On August 11, Dollar General announced a recall of Clover Valley Instant Coffee after a customer identified and reported glass fragments in the product. The affected product was sold at Dollar General stores in 48 states between July 9 and July 21, 2025.
Dollar General hasn't explained how glass pieces wound up in the instant coffee granules, but says it's "actively investigating the source of the glass contamination."

What Happens if You Swallow Glass?
It depends on the size of the glass and the sharpness of the piece, according to Poison Control. If it's a sharp piece or a larger fragment, the glass could cut your throat, esophagus, stomach, and intestines.
However, a smaller piece could pass through your digestive system without causing any issues.
Dollar General says no one has been injured by the glass in this instant coffee.
