I have to admit, I love football season more than I care about football. I think it’s because I was on the high school dance team and loved performing at games every Friday night. There’s something so magical about that crisp fall air and school spirit!

Even as an adult, I'm more excited about the tailgating food than the actual game. Maybe this is because I’m unlucky enough to be a Chicago Bears fan, or maybe it’s because I’m always around really good food. Who’s to say! My mom makes an absolutely incredible chorizo chili that I load up with plenty of sour cream, jalapeños, and shredded cheese. It’s certainly more comforting than watching my hometown team be…reliably not good at football.

Whenever a new product enters the market to elevate my game day experience, I get pumped. And Nestlé just released a new football-shaped chocolate morsel that I can't wait to get my hands on.

Nestlé Milk Chocolatey Football Morsels

  • Price: $4.68 for a 9-ounce bag
  • Why I’m Excited: I'm going to bring a dessert studded with tiny chocolate footballs to every football party I attend from now until the Super Bowl. That won't help the Chicago Bears win a game, but at least the fans will be happy.

What Is This Nestlé "Football Morsel"?

It's a football-shaped milk chocolate chip. (I’m assuming Nestlé stopped short of making them taste like footballs). I know what you're wondering: Do they retain their football shape when baked, or melt into a puddle of chocolate?

I asked Nestlé, and apparently, the football morsels stay football-shaped after a trip to the oven. If this is true, then they would make an excellent addition to chocolate chip cookies. The morsels could also be used as a topper on frosted treats, like cupcakes or brownies. Imagine how cute a tray full of football-shaped brownies would look.

If you really want to maintain the integrity of the morsel shape, I bet they would be a great addition to a snack mix—think Chex, pretzels, yogurt chips, raisins, and tiny chocolate footballs. Personally? I will be eating these straight out of the bag like I sometimes do with Nestlé’s chocolate morsels.
