Amanda Luchtel is a private chef, food writer, editor, recipe developer, and content creator from the Midwest, based in New England. As a former fine-dining and private chef, she understands the impact food has on our daily lives. Over the years, she has developed a passion for seasonal and regional cooking.
Experience
After pivoting from a career as a private chef, Amanda spent 2 years rediscovering her love for food by learning about sustainable farming and social justice in the food systems, staging in a fish market, and cooking in a midwestern lodge that specialized in locally harvested waterfowl. Soon after, she discovered America’s Test Kitchen and spent six years developing print and digital recipes and articles for Cook’s Country magazine, as well as creating social content for multiple platforms. Today, in addition to her work for Simply Recipes, she is a food writer whose work appears in print and online for America's Test Kitchen, Cook’s Country magazine, Serious Eats, and The Kitchn.
At home, you will find her creating simple dishes compiled from miscellaneous ingredients “raided” from her fridge, pantry staples, and what has been deemed "ugly" produce from local farms and grocery stores. If you’re looking for her, you will find her setting up a picnic for the people she loves. Full of wanderlust, she is influenced by her surroundings and inspired by every bite she tastes.
