Every time I bake a pie, I’m amazed by how quick it can be to prepare. Depending on the recipe, I can prep a pie so it’s ready to go into the oven in around 15 minutes. This is because, much like two of my favorite TV chefs, Ina Garten and Nadiya Husain, I’m not afraid of using shortcuts.

In this case, that means using store-bought pie crust from ALDI. With a pre-made crust, all I have to do is combine a few ingredients for the filling and pop the dessert into the oven or the fridge.

This shortcut often comes in handy for key lime pie, which I make at least once a year. It’s a crowd-pleaser and a delightful surprise to serve since it’s not a common dessert in the region where I live. Everyone loves the pie with its graham cracker crust, creamy topping, and sweet and sour filling.

Why I Love ALDI’s Graham Cracker Crust

ALDI’s shelf-stable graham cracker crust comes in an oven-safe tin-foil pie dish. I save so much time buying the premade crust, since I don’t have to blend graham crackers, mold the crumbs into a pie dish, or deal with all the cleanup that entails.

ALDI’s graham cracker crust doesn’t taste artificial at all—it just tastes like graham crackers. And at $1.99, it’s cheaper than buying a box of graham crackers as well as other pre-made crusts.

How I Use ALDI’s Graham Cracker Crust

I don’t pre-bake the pie crust. Instead, I pour the key lime custard directly into it as is. I don’t make any alterations to the temperature in my pie recipe (which calls for a homemade crust). After baking, I serve the pie directly out of the crust’s disposable pan so the pie doesn’t fall apart, and I have an easy way to store leftovers.

Key lime pie isn’t the only way to use this pie crust. It would also be great with homemade cheesecake or lemon chiffon pie. It can even be used to jazz up a pie recipe that doesn’t typically use a graham cracker crust, like pumpkin or strawberry rhubarb. Buying this crust makes baking as easy as pie.
