Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and whether that's 100% true or not, I personally always make an effort to start my mornings with a light bite to go with a cup of coffee or tea. Whether it's a few shortbread cookies, a bowl of yogurt and granola, or an apple eaten on the go, I need something to keep me going until lunch—because we all know how important it is to stave off the hanger, I mean hunger.

In the summer, I often lean on quick no-cook breakfasts, just your basic slicing, spooning, and assembly, or maybe buzzing in a blender. The most I'm willing to do in the way of prep is to toast a few slices of bread. If you're anything like me, and want more ideas for easy, light, and quick breakfasts, you've come to the right place! From refreshing (and caffeinated) smoothies to make-ahead overnight oats, these recipes are my summer morning lifesavers, and I hope they become yours, too.

"An important thing to note about this breakfast confection is that hagelslag sprinkles are very different from the waxy, flavorless sprinkles you can get stateside. While I admit to having a soft spot for the American version, the delicate texture of hagelslag and more intense flavor really makes this toast special."—Molly Adams, Recipe Developer
