My Favorite Martha Stewart Dutch Oven Just Got More Affordable—It’s on Amazon’s Big Spring Sale

Every cook needs a Dutch oven.

Dutch ovens are notoriously expensive. They're a hefty piece of cast iron cookware that often comes with a hefty price tag. However, purchase this kitchen workhorse and you'll be rewarded with decades of more joyful meals—cast iron retains heat efficiently, which means more cooking, less scorching, and food that stays warmer for longer.

You need a Dutch oven—every cook needs one!—but it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. I own five Dutch ovens that range from under $80 to over $500 (thank you for my holiday gift, husband!). The one I turn to the most often has the lowest price tag, so it's possible to get a high-quality Dutch oven without breaking the bank.

My go-to comes from Martha Stewart's popular cookware line, and there's a great deal on it over at Amazon's Big Spring Sale, which is happening today through March 25. I found a seven-quart Dutch oven in a creamy linen color with a gold knob for $68.

I love the super high sides that contain splatters better than pricier brands and the generous handles that are easy to grip without slipping even when I have my oven mitts on. Seven quarts is the ideal size for big families like mine (it's five of us) and for curries, soups, stews, braising, and deep frying. I've had mine for nearly six years, I use it three or four times a week, and it's still in great shape.

You Don’t Need to Splurge on a Dutch Oven

A seven-quart Le Creuset runs for about $460 and it's gorgeous. Is it worth shelling out big money on high-end cookware or is it smarter to opt for a budget-friendly alternative? Unless you're bougie and have deep pockets, nine times out of 10 I recommend the more affordable option.

As a trained chef, a mom who makes daily meals for her family, and a huge fan of Dutch oven cooking I can attest that my Martha Stewart Dutch oven is just as versatile and reliable, at a fraction of the cost.

It's worth noting that this Dutch oven is heavier than its more expensive equivalent. It also comes in fewer colors, while brands like Le Creuset consistently provide nearly two dozen colorways. And if you're looking for a warranty on your product, it's basically non-existent. Ultimately, I still think it's the smarter choice for a budget-conscious cook.
