Experience
Ally's first job in food writing was as an associate editor for a monthly independent publication based in Truckee, CA, where she covered everything food and restaurant-related in the small mountain town. Her work at the publication earned her a National Newspaper Association first-place award for the best business feature category for her article 'Back of the House in Dire Straits,' which investigated how the local housing crisis was impacting restaurant employees.
She went on to receive her Master's of Arts in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she focused on arts and culture reporting, including a podcast that dove deep into the history of the hot dog.
Currently, her work can be found on Simply Recipes.
In her free time, Ally loves being an amateur home cook and finding ways to use ingredients from the general store in her town of 700 to create delicious dishes.
Favorite meal when solo-cooking: "Peanut butter and jam on toast!"
